The origin of heeled boots is artistic ice skating and these “art boots” are also used for artistic and figure roller skating. Speed skaters skated traditionally in flat boots, also with shortcut uppers. What are the differences?

Clip Clip Hooray

Typically wheels are attached with self-locking nuts at the trucks on roller skates. This keeps the wheels safely at their place. Everybody, who experienced a lost wheel while skating, knows about the relevance of a tight connection of bearings and wheels on the axle. But wheels can also be held on the axles without threads and nuts, using a quick release axle system.
